Jeff, Eric, Karen and family,

We heard about Bernie's journey to heaven around 1yr ago. I wrote you a letter Jeff, but found out you'd moved.

Mom and myself are just now finding your contemplative and loving tribute to your dad; appropriate just after Father's day.

I have happy memories of the best times of my life prior to 9-11-10 as images of my best friend and us playing for hours on end while Bernie lovingly looked on. Bernie being a cheerful character jokingly cracking play eggs over our heads and telling us to spell pig backwards.

My dad told me about your dad's leaving with the angels, and we both were sad and then he said that "Bernie was a good man" and recalled the nickname that only Bernie called him, "Tomatoe Joe." He considered him his good friend, remembering happy times while they enjoyed cook outs while us kids played.

I recently heard that Bernie's dear brother Danny is now with Bernie. Going to the gondola shop-good memories.

I know without a doubt that your dad, 'Josh', and all of our families are all together beyond the clouds, up in the sky, among the stars, and in the abundance of love with Our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Amen.

Hoping to get together to share our great memories, as the best ones are the best, when shared together.
Always- your friend, Jessie (fallingleaves92@yahoo.com)
many condolences from mom as well.

Alan White Great Friend August 1, 2011

Dear Nau Family,

I was so shocked to see the paper and read of Bernie's passing. It really hits home on how short life is when you see that your best friend of so many years is now gone.  Even though our paths haven't crossed in so many years I still think of him and all of you regularly.  I even drove my wife by the house on Machin not 3 weeks ago.  You were all of a big part of getting me through some tough years when my Mom passed away.  Jackie and Joe, I have never met people with bigger hearts.  It seems like I must owe you a lifetime of meals for all of the meals you shared with me.  I really don't know how I would have made it.  Jackie, nobody has ever topped the green beans and bacon nor the hamburger with white sauce you used to make.  I'm sure my wife has heard this way to often in our 32 years together.
Bernie was such a great friend, along with Mike Ennis, and Mark Russell.  I think we all could have ruled the world way back when.
May the Lord grant you the ability to mourn with fond memories of a great son, brother, father and friend. He will be forever missed. Alan.
